The efforts of the LSU men's basketball team in the past week were recognized Monday when point guard Tremont Waters and forward Naz Reid swept the Southeastern Conference's weekly honors.

Waters was the choice for the SEC's player of the week award and Reid was the league's pick for top freshman, the conference announced Monday.

Waters, a 5-foot-9 sophomore, averaged 22.5 points, 7.5 assists, five steals and 3.5 rebounds in an overtime win at Mississippi State and a victory at home against Auburn on Saturday.

Waters had 26 points in hitting 11 of 18 shots from the field to go with five assists and five steals at Mississippi State.

Then, he posted his fourth double-double of the season with 19 points, 10 assists and five steals against Auburn.

Reid, a 6-10 freshman, averaged 21.0 points and 10.0 rebounds in the Tigers' two games.

He matched his career high at Mississippi State with 29 points, topping it by scoring seven of his team's nine points in overtime, and also had nine rebounds.

Reid recorded his second double-double of the season when he dropped in 13 points and a team-high 11 rebounds against Auburn.
