NASHVILLE, Tenn. — LSU picked up something more than a loss in the Music City.
Ugo Amadi, a three-star cornerback from Nashville, committed to the Tigers on Tuesday, three hours before LSU kicked off against Notre Dame in the Music City Bowl in Amadi’s hometown.
The Tigers lost 31-28 on Kyle Brindza’s 32-yard field goal as time expired, but they gained a 16th commitment of the 2015 class.
Amadi, the 30th-ranked cornerback in the nation according to 247Sports’ composite rankings, chose the Tigers over Tennessee. He de-committed from Ole Miss about two weeks ago.
Amadi joins Kevin Toliver II and Xavier Lewis as cornerback commitments for 2015.
Toliver is the No. 2 ranked cornerback in the nation, and Lewis is ranked No. 20.
Amadi is expected to enroll early and join the team in January.
Toliver, tight end Hanner Shipley and quarterback Justin McMillan all said they’ve been cleared to enroll early.
Amadi’s primary recruiter was defensive coordinator John Chavis, who was in serious discussion with Texas A&M about its open coordinator gig and has not signed a new three-year, $4 million contract with LSU.
Amadi told The Shreveport Times on Tuesday that he doesn’t expect Chavis to leave the Tigers for the Aggies.
