LSU football commit Arik Gilbert is surprised with the Gatorade National Football Player of the Year Award by Atlanta Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan.

A day before he's expected to sign with LSU, Marietta High School (Georgia) football player Arik Gilbert was named the prestigious Gatorade National Football Player of the Year.

Gilbert was surprised with the award by Atlanta Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan.

Wednesday is the first day high school players are able to sign letters of intent to FBS schools.

Gilbert, an LSU commit, is expected to sign with the Tigers.
