LSU freshman Haleigh Bryant sticks the landing on the uneven bars against Florida, Friday, February 12, 2021, at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center. Bryant would go on to tie for the NCAA vault title in April.

LSU unveiled its 2022 gymnastics schedule Wednesday, one that includes a visit from 2020 Olympic all-around gold medal winner Suni Lee of Auburn and from perennial national power Utah.

LSU will host six home meets in all, starting Jan. 7 against West Virginia in the Pete Maravich Assembly Center. LSU welcomes Auburn on Feb. 4 and wraps up the home schedule with Utah on March 11.

The Tigers also have home meets against Arkansas (Jan. 21), reigning SEC champion Alabama (Feb. 18) and Kentucky (March 4). LSU has road meets at Missouri (Jan. 14), Georgia (Jan. 28), reigning SEC regular-season champion Florida (Feb. 11) and Texas Woman’s University (Feb. 25).

LSU coach Jay Clark said in a written statement he is eager to see the PMAC at full capacity in 2022 after being at 25% capacity in 2021 because of COVID-19 restrictions.

“This is a really exciting schedule and especially intriguing home schedule from start to finish,” Clark said. “After only getting a couple thousand in the PMAC last year, I know our fans are chomping at the bit to get back in and pack the place out. The environment in our home arena is unmatched, and I know our team is excited to see it at capacity again.”

The SEC Championship meet will be March 19 in Birmingham, Alabama. NCAA regionals will be March 31-April 2 at Auburn, Alabama; Lexington, Kentucky; Raleigh, North Carolina; and Seattle. The NCAA Championships will again be in Fort Worth, Texas, April 15-16 at Dickies Arena.

Utah comes to Baton Rouge in 2022 in the first half of a home-and-home series between the two national powers, with LSU going to Salt Lake City in 2023. The meet takes on an added dimension with the recent hire of former Utah assistant Garrett Griffeth to the LSU staff. Griffeth’s wife, former Olympian Courtney McCool Griffeth, coming on as a volunteer coach.

Lee won the Olympic all-around title after former champion Simone Biles withdrew from competition in Tokyo. Lee’s club coach in St. Paul, Minnesota, was Jess Graba, twin brother of Auburn coach Jeff Graba.

The date for LSU’s Gymnastics 101 exhibition meet in December, as well as meet times and television information, is expected to be announced this fall.
