LSU added two players to its baseball recruiting class when catcher Kade Scivicque of Maurepas and right-hander Troy Whitty of Easton, Mass., joined the program Monday.

The players are part of a 19-man signing class that will begin conditioning drills and individual workouts Sept. 3.

Scivicque played the past two seasons at Southwest Mississippi Community College, batting .321 with four homers, 12 doubles and 37 RBIs last season, when he was named Mississippi Junior College Defensive Player of the Year after compiling a .991 fielding percentage. LSU coach Paul Mainieri said Scivicque could be the “sleeper” of the class.

Whitty was 15-1 in his high school career at The Dexter School, including a perfect game and a no-hitter.
