Due to budget cuts, state parks’ entrance hours are 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Sundays-Thursdays and, Fridays and Saturdays at 6 a.m. for parks with boat launches, a 7 a.m. for parks without boat launches.


Effective July 1, the Department of Wildlife & Fisheries reopened these wildlife management areas after flooding threats abated along the Mississippi and Atchafalaya rivers:

• Attakapas WMA (Iberia/St. Martin/St. Mary parishes); Three Rivers WMA (Concordia Parish); Grassy Lake WMA (Avoyelles Parish) except Cas Cas Road. The Bayou Des Sot bridge has been repaired.

• The South Farm (Iberville Parish) portion of Sherburne WMA to ATV and walk-in traffic. The rest of the WMA is closed until further notice.

• Until further notice: Parts of Dewey Wills WMA, the Atchafalaya National Wildlife Refuge & the Bonnet Carre Spillway Area are closed.
