Recreational offshore fishermen will have the next two weekends open for additional catches of red snapper after the state’s LA Creel system showed the summer-long, weekends-only season left private anglers 51,234 pounds short of the 2019 snapper quota.

The seasons, opened by Department of Wildlife and Fisheries secretary Jack Montoucet, will run from Friday through 12:01 a.m. Monday then from Friday, Oct. 4 through 12:01 a.m. Monday, Oct. 7.
