The 94th annual Grand Isle Rodeo begins at sunrise Thursday. The 16th annual Faux Pas Lodge Tournament begins at 12:01 a.m. Thursday. Final weigh-ins for both are set Saturday.

Grand Isle Tarpon Rodeo

WHERE: Otto Candies Memorial Pavilion, Grand Isle.

WEIGHSTATION/HOURS: Sand Dollar Marina. 8 a.m.-8 p.m. Thursday and Friday; 8 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday.

TICKETS: $25. Outlets include Bridge Side & Sand Dollar marinas, Blue Water Sports, Camardelle’s, Nez Coupe Shop & Sureway Market on Grand Isle; Puglia’s Sporting Goods, Metairie; TYD Tackle & Griffin’s in Leeville; Moran’s Marina at Fourchon; Songy’s Sporting Goods & West Marine in Houma.

SPECIAL EVENTS: 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Children’s Division daily weigh-in (pavilion); 2 p.m. children’s crab races (daily); 7 p.m. Thursday, President’s Party, open to public; 9 p.m. Friday fireworks; live music nightly.


Big Game Division: Tarpon (more than 4½ feet, 5 places), bull dolphin (more than 20 pounds), blue marlin (2 places), blackfin tuna, yellowfin tuna (more than 50 pounds) and wahoo.

Big Game/Tag & Release: Blue marlin (500 points), white marlin (200 points), sailfish (150 points) and yellowfin tuna (50 points, 2 max per angler). Only two tuna per day per angler are counted in the overall standings. Tarpon (100 points, 5 places).

Shoreline Division: Barracuda, bluefish, bonito, cobia (lemonfish), jack crevalle, grouper, king mackerel, Spanish mackerel, mangrove snapper, spadefish and tripletail.

Inside Division: Croaker, gafftopsail catfish, black drum, flounder, redfish, redfish stringer, sheepshead, speckled trout and white trout. Anglers can enter no more than one redfish longer than 27 inches in the redfish category. The redfish stringer category has a maximum of 5 redfish, all of which must measure between 16 and less than 27 inches long.

Children’s Division (12-&-younger, no fee): Gafftopsail catfish, croaker, channel mullet, hardhead catfish, white trout.


Faux Pas Lodge Tournament

WHERE: Faux Pas Lodge, 237 Sports Marina Rd., Venice.

CAPTAINS’ PARTY: 6-10 p.m. Tuesday, Southport Hall, 200 Monticello Ave., Jefferson.

WEIGHSTATION/HOURS: 5-8 p.m. Thursday & Friday; 3-6 p.m. Saturday.

FEES: $40/angler. Special fees ranging from $90-$150 for calcuttas.

Grand Slam Calcutta

Must be registered in basic calcuttas. Heaviest aggregate weight of all three above-mentioned species in Inshore, Offshore and Rig calcutta divisions
