Girl Scouts resident camps

Water play is just one of the activities for girls at the Girl Scouts' two resident camps.

Bennett's Water Ski & Wake Board Camp

Ages: 8 years old and up, coed

Dates: February through October

Cost: $795 per week (includes room and board)

Counselors teach and coach towed water sports including skiing, wakeboarding and inflatables at levels from beginner to competitive.

Camp Abbey Summer Camp

Ages: Third- through ninth-graders, girls and boys

Dates: June 2-29, boys' camp; June 30-July 27, girls' camp

Cost: $409 per week

The weeklong sleepover camp offers arts and crafts, archery, boating, swimming, hiking, sports, camping, prayer, Mass and more.

Camp Lantern Creek

Ages: 7-17 years old, girls

Dates: June 16-July 21

Cost: $2,400 for two-week session, $1,400 for one-week session

Girls at this sleep-away camp learn to support each other and forge new friendships, and can select from activities including sewing and soft sculpting, building a fire, changing a tire, knitting, fine arts, theater, singing, dancing, sports, canoeing, archery, crafts, swimming, paddleboarding and more.

Camp Stanislaus

Dates: June 9-July 12

Cost: $360 per week for day camp, $775 per week for resident camp, $2,875 for four-week resident camp

The camp combines recreation and learning activities. Weekly activities include sailing, water-skiing and fishing. Other activities include archery, baseball, basketball, football, dodge ball, volleyball, tennis, arts and crafts, swimming, marine biology, canoeing, weightlifting, theater, Frisbee and more.

Equest Farm

Dates: June 3-Aug. 9

Cost: $350 per week

The weekly sessions teach children about basic horsemanship and horse care, and there's a weekly group lesson focusing on English hunter/jumper riding. There also are games on horseback, arts and crafts and daily themed activities. Extended care is available.

Girl Scout Camp Marydale

Ages: First- through 12th-graders, girls

Dates: June 2-July 6

Cost: $100-$410

The 400-acre camp has an equestrian program, archery, a low-ropes course, hiking trails, swimming pool, canoeing, arts and crafts and other activities.

Girl Scout Resident Camp Whispering Pines

Ages: First- through 12th-graders, girls

Dates: June 2-July 6

Cost: $100-$410

Located in a pine forest, the resident camp has a lake for boating, tubing, fishing and water sports as well as rock climbing, zip-lining, a water slide, swimming pool, high-ropes course, nature trails, sports, science, nature activities and crafts.

NOLA Nature School

Dates: May 28-June 14

Cost: $120-$300 per week

Camp activities are in the Couturie Forest at City Park, and children spend their days outside, exploring and learning about the world around them.

Pony Tales Pony & Horse Riding Daycamp

Ages: 5-12 years old, coed

Dates: May 23-Aug. 16

Cost: $47-$58 per day

There are daily riding lessons on ponies and horses, instruction on horse handling and care and driving in a pony cart. Extended care is available.

Sugar Roots Farm Camp

Dates: July 8-19

Cost: $255 per week

The weekly sessions include horse riding and animal care, zip-lining, gardening, nature hikes art projects, archery, water slides and animal walks.
