State Sen. Paulette Irons, a potential candidate for mayor in the February elections, will be the guest of honor at her own birthday party fundraiser on 5:30 p.m. Thursday, June 28, at Cafe Marigny, 1913 Royal St. Leslie Jacobs, chair of the event and the governor's appointee to a state education policy board, stresses that the event will be a "Senate fundraiser" but acknowledges Irons will be allowed to use legislative campaign funds if she decides to run for mayor. Tickets are $250 per couple. Irons will be 49 years old.

Criminal Court Judge Sharon K. Hunter will host a $1,000 per couple fundraiser at 3 p.m. Sunday, July 1, at Maison Blue, 228 Camp St. Stewart, a popular former aide to the late District D Councilman Roy Glapion Jr., has been working for Judge Hunter since late last year.

Tickets are $500 per person.
