A Flock of Seagulls to headline Krewe of BOO! afterparty, completing the '80s-ization of New Orleans_lowres

The Krewe of Boo parades through the French Quarter.

Did you see Huey Lewis and the News, Pat Benatar or The B-52s last weekend at the Gretna Heritage Festival? (I didn't, but when the wind was right I could hear them on the East Bank.) It was a very '80s Gretna Fest, and now it looks like a very '80s Halloween with the news that the entertainment at the Krewe of BOO!'s official afterparty will be provided by A Flock of Seagulls - in an era of hair bands, AFOS was the hair band nonpareil.

This year's parade rolls through the French Quarter to Frenchmen Street on Sat. Oct. 21, with celebrity king Blaine Kern and grand marshals The Mix and Maryse, husband-and-wife wrestlers from WWE.

Now in its 10th year, this year's KoB! will be an all-day affair, beginning with the inaugural 2-mile New Orleans Zombie Run at 9 a.m., with Big Easy Roller Girls chasing zombies through the streets from Generations Hall to Frenchmen Street in the Faubourg Marigny. The 6:30 p.m. Krewe of BOO! parade will follow a reverse route, starting at Elysian Fields Ave. and Decatur St. and rolling through the Quarter to Generations Hall for the Monster Mash afterparty - and, of course, A Flock of Seagulls. (The 1980s are the new oldies, I guess.)
