Jazz Fest 2018 cubes are out: see set times, stages_lowres

Sting or Sturgill? Byrne or Buffett? Lionel or Lyle?

The set schedules and full daily lineups - the so-called "cubes" - for the 2018 New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival are out now for schedule obsessives or for early printing/screenshotting 30 days out from the gates' opening.

The squares come to be known as "the cubes" - often unironically discussed at length by Festers sounding as if they are some kind of dystopian threat ("have you seen the cubes? when are the cubes coming?") - do glimpse some interesting scheduling notes.

A particularly strong lineup of Big Freedia, Common and Khalid is on the Congo Square Stage Saturday, April 28, and acclaimed folk outfits Hiss Golden Messenger (Friday, May 4) and Calexico (Sunday, May 6) are on the relatively intimate Fais Do-Do stage. Curiously, no artists are yet on the schedule at the Blues Tent after 3:45 p.m. Saturday, May 5.

At the Allison Minor stage inside the Fairgrounds, David Fricke interviews the Tin Men on Saturday, April 28, Matt Sakakeeny discusses connections between Haiti and Congo Square with Luther Gray and members of Kod Kreyol of Haiti on Thursday, May 3, and Holly Hobbs talks with Jason Isbell on Friday, May 4.
