- ONE RESTAURANT
- Grilled Beef Tenderloin with Warm Beef Shoulder Rillete and Stilton Cheese Glaçage
After nearly a decade, the proprietors of One Restaurant, located at 8132 Hampson Street, have announced that their last day of service will be Tuesday, December 31st.
The announcement is surely a sad one for fans of the Riverbend eatery, known for its modern decor and fine dining fare. Chef/owner Scott Snodgrass (a former executive chef at Clancy's) and co-proprietor Lee McCullough noted that the decision to shutter was "extremely difficult."
Snodgrass and McCullough talked shop with Gambit about their restaurant back in August, 2012, and how their still-young eatery managed to survive even after Hurricane Katrina and the federal levee failures of 2005.
For those who've yet to visit One Restaurant, there are still a few short days to sample their menu before the doors lock for good. The eatery has received generally good reviews for its elevated take on contemporary Louisiana cuisine over the years, including a solid 25 for food in the 2013 Zagat New Orleans restaurant survey. Familiar menu items include a chicken and andouille gumbo, cochon de lait with stone ground grits, duck confit with chicken sausage, grilled beef tenderloin, and gulf fish served in a coconut and lime broth.
There's no word yet if another restaurant will take One's place on Hampson St., which sits in good restaurant company/competition nearby, including Dante's Kitchen and Brigtsen's, nor whether its proprietors will eventually launch another eatery. According to a press release, "Snodgrass is looking forward to spending more time catching fish rather than preparing it and McCullough is looking forward to his upcoming wedding and starting a family."
