LA Smokehouse closes following electrical fire_lowres

Gert Town barbecue restaurant LA Smokehouse has closed temporarily following an overnight fire.

Gert Town barbecue spot LA Smokehouse (8300 Earhart Blvd., 504-265-8905) has closed temporarily following an electrical fire at the Earhart Boulevard restaurant Monday night.

[jump] According to a Facebook post from the restaurant’s owners, the fire occurred overnight and prompted the eatery to temporarily close. The post says the owners don't know when - or if - they will re-open. A call to the restaurant was not immediately returned.

The restaurant opened in the spring 2016 by chef and owner Daniel Wender and served a varied selection of smoked meats in a mix-and-match format with barbecue plates sold by weight.

“We have suffered an overnight electrical fire and are sad to report that we are temporarily closed. We certainly hope we can recover from this event but at this moment we are not sure of the future of LA Smokehouse. Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers.”
