Lakeview pizza hub Pizza NOLA (141 W. Harrison Ave., 504-872-0731; www.pizzanola.com) will close March 11. Owner Will Samuels made the announcement Monday.
[jump] “It is with a heavy heart that we must make this decision,” Samuels said in a news release. “We have had a good seven-and-a-half years, but we must realize that financially we are unable to keep the restaurant operating under the current economic climate. After a slow second half of 2017, we were counting on a much bigger financial boost from this Carnival season to get us back on track. Unfortunately, we did not get that.”
Samuels and his wife Jennifer run the family-friendly pizza parlor on Harrison Avenue known for their thin-crust pies, calzones, Sharknado parties and Carnival kick-offs. The restaurant also served wraps, sandwiches, pasta and gelato (and Dong Phuong king cakes during Carnival season). Samuels, who owns the Harrison Avenue restaurant space, said he plans to sell the popular king cakes next season. The announcement also said Samuels is looking for potential restaurateurs interested in leasing or purchasing the space.
