The 2016 Essence Festival unveiled its nightly stage-by-stage lineup and added three more artists to the roster - rising star Andra Day, rapper Common, and hip-hop kingpin Puff Daddy.
The festival is July 1-3 at the Superdome. Single-night tickets start at $50, weekend passes start at $130.50.
[jump] Maxwell closes out the main stage on Friday, July 1 with New Edition, Babyface, Tyrese, Faith Evans and Estelle. Digable Planets, Daley, Eric Bellinger, Lion Babe, the Internet, Tweet, Mali Music, V. Bozeman, Zakes Bantwini and Skye Wanda perform at the Superlounges.
Mariah Carey headlines Saturday's night, with Charlie Wilson, Common and Jeremiah. Doug E. Fresh, Tink, Jidenna, Preservation Hall Jazz Band, St. Beauty, Lalah Hathaway, Judith Hill, Wizkid and Lady Leshurr are in the Superlounges.
And on Sunday, July 3, Kendrick Lamar returns to Essence to headline following Puff Daddy & the Family, Ciara and Andra Day. The Superlounges host MC Lyte, Dej Loaf, Cyril Neville, Leon Bridges, Kehlani, New Breed Brass Band, Robert Glasper Experiment, BJ the Chicago Kid, the Brand New Heavies and Little Simz.
