- Actor Nicolas Cage's booking photo from Orleans Parish Prison.
Yet another chapter in Nicolas Cage's strange relationship with the city of New Orleans was written this morning when the actor was arrested on charges of domestic violence and disturbing the peace. He was booked into Orleans Parish Prison.
Celebrity website TMZ claims to have the story:
Nic was "very drunk" on the streets of N.O. when a cab driver saw him loudly arguing with his wife Alice.
We're told the cabbie called the police and said in addition to the screaming and yelling ... he saw Nic push her.
We're told the police came and told Nic and his wife to just go home. That's when Nic allegedly told cops, "Why don't you just arrest me?" The cops then reiterated that he and his wife should just go home. Cage then repeated his dare to cops.
At that point, police took Nic into custody and charged him with ...domestic abuse and disturbing the peace.
The incident follows a March encounter with the New Orleans Police Department (NOPD) at the tony restaurant Stella! in the French Quarter. Reports at the time said NOPD officers escorted Cage out of the restaurant after a window was broken, but no arrest was made.
Cage married Alice Kim in 2004. The two have/had various properties in New Orleans over the years, including a 9-foot pyramid-shaped tomb in St. Louis Cemetery No. 1.

47-year-old Nicolas Cage is in police custody this morning after getting drunk last night in the French Quarter and arguing in the street with his wife. He’s booked with Domestic Abuse Battery, Disturbing the Peace and Public Drunkenness.
Around 11:30pm last night Cage was arguing with his wife in the 600 block of Dumaine Street. He and his wife were standing in front of a residence that he insisted was the property the couple was renting. She disagreed, and Cage grabbed her by the upper arm and pulled her to what he believed was the correct address. There were no visible signs of injury on his wife’s arm.
The actor then began striking vehicles and later attempted to get into a taxi. At that point, an officer who had been flagged down by on-lookers drove up on the couple, immediately observed that Cage was heavily intoxicated, and ordered him out of the cab, which prompted Cage to start yelling. The officers subsequently took Cage to Central Lock-Up.
