Jindal's New Orleans presidential announcement actually is in Kenner_lowres

Gov. Bobby Jindal teased his "big announcement" with the words "NEW ORLEANS" and a shot of the city skyline, confirming he'll be in town this month to finally reveal his presidential ambitions. But as the Associated Press' Melinda Deslatte points out, Jindal's not going to New Orleans. He'll be in Kenner, at the Pontchartrain Center.

The event ("Geaux Bobby: A Special Announcement from Governor Bobby Jindal") is 4 p.m. Wednesday, June 24 - not to be confused with the Effective Educators Conference, which is also that day. (Stay tuned for Saturday's expo extravaganza, Boomers & Beyond.) Admission is free to the public (there's a wait list) and to special guests (are you one of them? sure!). Jindal can probably expect a few more uninvited friends.

In 2008, then-presidential candidate Sen. John McCain spoke from the Pontchartrain Center in Kenner, also known as "the great city of New Orleans."
