Nine Junior Girl Scouts from troops in Jefferson Parish recently earned the Girl Scout Bronze Award, the highest award a Junior Girl Scout in grades four through five can achieve. The award requires the completion of a series of leadership challenges that prepares them for their final take-action project.
Rachel Wallace, of Metairie Girl Scout Junior Troop 40361, noticed that the U.S. map on the Our Lady of Divine Providence Church grounds was wearing away, so she and others in the troop repainted it. The project adviser was Gloria St. Pierre.
Harahan Girl Scout Troop 40904 increased the recycling activities at St. Rita School by getting more rolling bins added at the school and purchasing 30 baskets with troop funds, which became classroom recycling bins. Award recipients are Laine Barcelona, Chloe Barnes, Amber Corb, Sofia Enderica, Madalyn Haas, Heather Pitre, Karen Stiegler and Kailey Winn. The project adviser was Alexandra Enderica.
