The Tulane Hullabaloo student newspaper reported that a man told a female Tulane University student Saturday afternoon that he had a gun and ordered her to withdraw money from an ATM.
The Tulane Police Department sent a crime alert to those on its email list at 4:40 p.m., about an hour after the incident, the Hullabaloo reported.
The alert described a man in his 20s, dressed in all-black clothing with a winter hat, who was sitting at a table with the student and her two friends in the Lavin-Bernick Center on campus. The man told them he had a firearm in his waistband, then demanded that the student use her cash card and withdraw money for him, the Hullabaloo reported.
After the student complied, the man fled. He was last seen leaving campus on Freret Street headed toward Calhoun Street.
