Student brings loaded BB gun to school

A 13-year-old student at KIPP Leadership Primary School was booked by New Orleans police Monday after he brought a loaded BB gun to the campus in the 2300 block of St. Claude Avenue.

The 7th-grader told other students he had a gun in his school bag, police said. Those students then notified school officials, who seized the gun.

Police booked the student for bringing a loaded BB gun onto school grounds.

Coroner identifies three homicide victims

The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office on Monday identified three homicide victims from over the weekend.

It said Robert Vaught II, 29, was fatally shot Saturday night in the 2200 block of North Derbigny Street.

The next morning, the bodies of a man and woman were found in a car in the 3500 block of Vespasian Boulevard in Algiers about 7 a.m. They had been shot to death. The coroner identified them as Carisa Wiltz, 40, and Paul Forbes Jr., 57.

Man accused of stabbing friend after fight

New Orleans police are looking for a man they say stabbed a friend Sunday.

The victim and Eddie Beraud, 38, were drinking together in a residence in the 8800 block of Spruce Street about 8:30 a.m. when they started arguing, according to police. The 40-year-old victim pushed Beraud, who got a knife from the kitchen and stabbed the victim twice in the side, police said.

The victim was reported in stable condition at a hospital.

Woman shot Sunday night in Central City

New Orleans police were investigating a shooting that wounded a woman late Sunday night in Central City.

The 21-year-old woman was sitting in a friend’s car in the 1800 block of South Liberty Street about 11:30 p.m. when she was shot.

She was taken to a hospital.

Teen arrested in carjacking in N.O. East

Two women were sitting in a car Sunday afternoon in New Orleans East when three men came up and stole the car, police said.

One of the alleged robbers, 15, has been arrested, according to police. Two remain at large.

The women were sitting in a Suzuki Grand Vitara at Bundy and Dwyer roads about 2:15 p.m. when three men wearing ski masks came up to the car. One of the men had a gun, according to police. He told the women to “give it up,” and the women got out of the car, which the carjackers drove away.

About 20 minutes later, police found the three men and the car in the 4700 block of Raymond Joseph Drive. Two of the men fled on foot, but officers arrested the 15-year-old. One of the victims identified him as the man who pointed the gun at her.

NOPD: Man looking for smoke stabs another

A man looking for a cigarette stabbed a 43-year-old man early Monday morning, police said.

After the perpetrator asked for and was given a cigarette in the 1400 block of North Claiborne Avenue about 4 a.m., he pulled out a knife and stabbed the victim several times, according to police.

The victim was taken to a hospital for treatment.

Three men wanted in auto burglary

New Orleans police are looking for three men in connection with a February auto burglary.

The three men were caught on video about 11 a.m. Feb. 17 taking valuables from a Toyota Corolla parked in a garage in the 300 block of Canal Street. The video can be seen at
