4th suspect in Bourbon Street brawl turns self in, police say _lowres

Enrique Alvarado

The fourth of four suspects wanted by police in a highly publicized brawl that took place in the wee hours of Feb. 1 in front of a Bourbon Street nightclub turned himself in Monday morning, State Police announced.

Enrique Alvarado, 26, of Kenner, was the only one of the four suspects police had identified who was still at large. The other three — Demetrius Domingues, 22; Jovon Murrey, 20; and Potong Tom Davis Jr., 22 — were all arrested Friday in Kenner by State Police.

The four are part of a group called “New Boyz,” according to Col. Mike Edmonson, the State Police superintendent.

They are accused of instigating a lengthy, free-wheeling melee in front of the Bourbon Heat nightclub, in the 700 block of the city’s signature tourist street. A four-minute clip of the fight circulated on Facebook and was viewed tens of thousands of times.

No police were visible in the video, despite the very public setting of the fight, and NOPD Superintendent Michael Harrison has acknowledged it took the department 10 minutes to respond. The incident underscored the department’s staffing shortages and prompted city officials to seek long-term assistance from the State Police to help keep the peace in the French Quarter.
