Cabrini High School sophomore recognized for excellence in Spanish _lowres

A sophomore at Cabrini High School has been awarded the Jose Luis Banos Award for Excellence in Spanish by the Sociedad Espanola.

The Honorable Luis Banos, honorary consul general of Spain in New Orleans, presented the award to Deborah Alvarenga at a reception hosted by the Sociedad Espanola. Cabrini assistant principal and AP Spanish instructor Vivian Deschapelles Coutin accompanied Alvarenga, and opened the reception with a talk to the students about the importance of Spanish in the 21st century.
