A Metairie man was killed Thursday while working on a dump truck in Kenner, the Kenner Police Department said.

Albert Brooks, 63, was working on a 1992 Peterbilt dump truck owned by Bennett Trucking Service at a work site on West 24th Street about 10:50 a.m., police said.

Brooks’ body was positioned between the bed of the truck, which was raised, and the truck’s frame. While he was working on the truck, a support broke, causing the raised bed to fall on Brooks, crushing him.

He was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The death appears to have been accidental, Kenner police said.
