Three men robbed a man near the French Quarter on Friday morning then fired a shot at him before they fled, police said.
The victim, 43, was near the corner of Henriette DeLille Street and Esplanade Avenue about 5 a.m., according to a police log. Police said three men, one of them with a gun, approached him and demanded his belongings.
The victim handed over his phone, keys and backpack, police said. But when he turned to leave, according to authorities, the robbers fired a shot at him and fled in a dark-colored sedan.
The Police Department did not immediately comment on whether detectives believe the robbery is connected to one in Carrollton on Wednesday morning. In that incident, police said three armed robbers stole a man’s belongings and fired a shot at him before fleeing in a dark-colored sedan.
