Police book 1, seek2 others in shooting

New Orleans — Hours after police announced the arrest of one Marrero man in connection with a high-profile shooting on Bourbon Street, another Marrero man also was identified as a suspect.

Police announced they arrested Deron Bridgewater, 23, Monday after he surrendered in connection with a shooting Saturday that left four people wounded on Bourbon Street.

A few hours later, police said an arrest warrant for attempted murder had been issued for Brandon Brown, 21, in connection with the same incident. Police are also looking for a third suspect.

Police seek woman in brother’s stabbing

New Orleans — Police are searching for a 26-year-old local woman after authorities said she stabbed her brother with a kitchen knife during an argument.

Police only identified the wanted woman as Teyonda and said the incident happened Monday morning around 10:13 a.m. Police said the victim and Teyonda were arguing in the 2600 block of Galvez Street, when Teyonda ran to the kitchen and grabbed a knife. She then stabbed the victim before fleeing.

Ex-workerin hotel robbery

sought New Orleans — A 43-year-old former hotel worker is being sought in connection with an armed robbery on Monday morning.

Police are looking for James Randle after a clerk at the Empress Hotel stated that Randle robbed the business in the 1300 block of Ursulines Avenue around 11:31 a.m. The clerk said Randle had a gun and demanded money before fleeing the scene.

Man shot during attempted robbery

New Orleans — A local man was shot in the leg Monday night during an attempted robbery in Mid City.

The robbery was reported at about 10:10 p.m. at the intersection of Baudin Street and South Telemachus Street, according to police. The victim said he was walking in the neighborhood when an unknown man approached him demanding money.

The victim said he told the robber he didn’t have any cash, and the man shot him once in the leg before fleeing the scene.

Suspect sought in gas station robbery

New Orleans — An early morning robbery at an eastern New Orleans gas station netted one man cash and expensive alcohol on Mardi Gras.

The robbery was reported shortly after 5 a.m. at a gas station on Bullard Avenue.

Police said a lone gunman entered the gas station, leapt a counter and put a silver gun to the faces of two clerks behind the counter. The man demanded the cash from both registers and fled the scene with thousands in cash and two bottles of champagne worth $500 each. No one was injured.

Police book momwith child desertion

Metairie — The Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office arrested a Metairie woman Monday morning after she told deputies she left her young children home alone to work the overnight shift at a fast-food restaurant.

Tysheka Wade, 24, was booked with child desertion after deputies found her 1-year-old son and 4-year-old daughter home alone at the family’s apartment on Harvard Avenue. Police were called out the scene around 1 a.m. by someone who knew that the children were alone, according to an arrest report.

The children were taken into custody, and when Wade contacted police shortly before 7 a.m. when she returned home she was arrested as well. She told a deputy that she left the children to go to work at Taco Bell.
