Take the rare opportunity to eat in the library at the new “Eat. Drink. Read.” book and discussion group presented by the African-American Resource Center. Bring your lunch and be treated to an array of books and resources and lively book discussion.

A different African-American topic will be chosen every week.

The group will meet in the African-American Resource Center on the second floor of the Main Library from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. beginning Friday, Sept. 26 and then every other week through Oct. 24.

SPANISH LANGUAGE STORYTIME: Two library locations will feature a bilingual Spanish-speaking storytime on Saturday, Sept. 27. Algiers Regional Library will host its bilingual storytime at 2:30 p.m. and the Norman Mayer Library will host its bilingual storytime at 3 p.m.

NIX LIBRARY PERFORMANCE: Michaela Harrison’s voice has been described as simultaneously sultry and sensitive, and you can see her perform live at the Nix Library on Saturday, Sept. 27, from 6 to 7:30 p.m.

LIFE LEARNING FOR TEENS: Tell a teen about the Life Learning Workshops to be held at the Norman Mayer Library. This four-week series of workshops presented by Holomua Life Learning, a program for students by students, is designed to help teens become prepared to enter the professional world by learning practical skills from college students. The Life Learning Workshops include free meals and participation prizes and are open to all high school students, ages 14-19. The workshops begin Monday, Sept. 29.
