A third strip club in the French Quarter will shut its doors following raids by the state Office of Alcohol and Tobacco Control and the New Orleans Police Department.

Dixie Divas, which had been accused by officials of allowing prostitution, drug sales and lewd acts on its premises, "voluntarily relinquished its alcohol permit" and will be "terminating its lease and permanently closing," according to a news release from ATC sent out Monday evening.

Its closing will leave the Quarter with 10 strip clubs, mostly on Bourbon Street.

ATC and NOPD officers raided eight clubs and suspended their liquor licenses over the past month. All faced some combination of allegations of prostitution, drug use and lewd acts.

The raids have sparked marches by workers at the closed clubs protesting lost wages at the height of the Carnival tourist season.

The protesters also have accused law enforcement personnel of using inappropriate tactics during the raids that demeaned dancers or put them in danger and noted that even though the raids were announced as a crackdown on human trafficking, no evidence of that crime has yet been presented.

Four of the clubs reached settlements with the ATC last week and were allowed to reopen on probation after paying fines. A fifth, Temptations, had been involved in an unrelated dispute with its landlord and had its alcohol permit permanently revoked.

Another club, Lipstixx, closed prior to being raided but agreed to surrender its liquor license and apply to reopen as a dance club.

A hearing had been set for Tuesday to determine the fate of Dixie Divas and two other clubs that have not yet settled with authorities. A hearing for one of those clubs, Hunk Oasis, will go forward Tuesday.

The other, Larry Flynt's Hustler Barely Legal, has filed a lawsuit in Civil District Court arguing that the suspension of its liquor license violated its due process rights. The hearing for that club has been postponed because of the suit.
