Covington man allegedly had steroids
A Covington man was arrested Monday after a search of his house on Taulla Drive turned up 500 milliliters of steroids and “numerous vials” of human growth hormone, according to Suzanne Carboni, a St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman.
Alan Guichet, 60, was under investigation after U.S. Postal Service inspectors and Drug Enforcement Administration agents intercepted a package addressed to him and found 500 milliliters of steroids, Carboni said.
St. Tammany detectives obtained a search warrant for his residence, where they located the additional drugs. Guichet was booked into the St. Tammany Parish jail on a count of possession of a Schedule III controlled dangerous substance.
Two arrested after drugs found in home
Two Chalmette residents were arrested Tuesday evening after they were found to be in possession of $16,000 worth of heroin, $9,400 in cash, pills and synthetic marijuana, the St. Bernard Parish Sheriff’s Office said.
Deputies found the drugs and cash in the process of investigating a hit-and-run accident, Sheriff James Pohlmann said.
Michael Adams, 40, and Britt Lavigne, 41, who live in the 3600 block of Jackson Boulevard, were each booked with possession with intent to distribute heroin, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Sheriff’s deputies began the case as an investigation of a hit-and-run that happened about 5 p.m. Tuesday when a motorist fled after hitting a light pole on St. Claude Avenue near Friscoville Avenue in Arabi.
Deputies had a description of the vehicle and found an SUV matching the wanted vehicle in front of Adams’ and Lavigne’s home.
When a small bag of what turned out to be synthetic marijuana was found in the vehicle, narcotics agents were called to the scene and a search warrant for the residence was obtained from a judge.
Lavigne, who gave a false name when she arrived at the home while deputies were there, was found to be wanted on a 2012 outstanding theft warrant in Jefferson Parish.
Adams and Lavigne were being held in St. Bernard Parish Prison in lieu of $70,000 bail each, Pohlmann said.
