An unidentified man was shot and killed outside a vacant home in Marrero on Saturday afternoon, the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office said.

Officers found the man sitting behind the driver’s wheel of a 2002 Ford Escape in the 2000 block of Tuskegee Drive around 1:30 p.m., Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office spokesman Col. John Fortunato said. The victim was pronounced dead on the scene.

The car’s motor was still running in the driveway of the home when the man was found, Fortunato said. A second car also was parked outside the home, empty with its engine running and the passenger door open.

Officers have yet to identify a motive or a suspect in the shooting, and the incident is under investigation, Fortunato said.
