The Louisiana Walks for Parkinson’s will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 18, at the Lafreniere Park Foundation Center, 3000 Downs Blvd., Metairie.
U.S. Sen. David Vitter, Jefferson Parish President John Young and several expert physicians will speak at the walk.
The event will also feature a silent auction, parade of prizes, family-friendly entertainment and food.
Registered participants will receive an official walk T-shirt, free food from local restaurants as well as complimentary water, soft drinks and beer.
The registration fee is $25, and children 12 and under are free. Proceeds benefit the Parkinson’s Action Network and several New Orleans-area support groups. To register, visit parkinsonswalk.org.
