Waggaman shooting linked to burglary
Waggaman — A man who was shot multiple times last week was a suspected burglar, and his shooting was in retaliation for an earlier crime, according to the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies were called to the 300 block of Jeffer Drive on Jan. 18 and found a 26-year-old man with multiple gunshot wounds to the body.
The victim was taken to a local hospital in critical condition, and investigators began searching for a suspect.
However, according to an arrest report, the victim later told detectives the shooter was a man named “Al” who was friends with Warren “Wo” Fontenette III.
The victim said prior to the shooting, he and Fontenette had a disagreement because Fontenette accused him of burglarizing his home.
On the day of the shooting, the victim said he was walking down Jeffer Drive when he saw Fontenette drive by in his vehicle.
The victim tried to avoid Fontenette, but he pulled alongside him and “Al” got out of the vehicle carrying a gun, according to the arrest report.
The victim said “Al” shot him several times before getting back into the car and fleeing the scene.
Investigators found eight spent shell casings at the scene, and the victim was wounded in the abdomen, thigh, foot and buttocks.
Fontenette was booked Wednesday with principle to attempted second degree murder.
Detectives have not released an identification for suspect “Al.”
Police say man shot cousin’s boyfriend
New Orleans — Police have arrested a New Orleans man who authorities say shot his cousin’s abusive boyfriend, then tracked the man down so he could get medical help.
Reco Norton, 26, was booked with aggravated battery and illegal use of a weapon Wednesday after he shot the 20-year-old victim Tuesday in the 2200 block of Danneel Street, according to police.
According to court records, Norton shot the man after he told the victim to stop talking to his cousin and leave the area.
The victim and his girlfriend have a prior history of domestic violence, according to the records.
After the shooting, Norton apparently expressed remorse to his cousin, stating he only wanted the man to leave the house.
He then went and found the victim, helped him back to the house to change clothes, and the victim’s girlfriend took him to the hospital.
Slidell student booked on terrorizing count
Slidell — A St. Tammany Parish high school student who joked about school shootings leading to vacation time was arrested on terrorizing Wednesday after one of his teachers complained.
Abdullah Mian, 17, was arrested by the Slidell Police department.
According to police, Mian told a teacher that he knew how to make a bomb and he thought there should be more school shootings so he could have more days off from school.
There is no indication he actually threatened anyone. Police did not release the name of Mian’s school.
Carjacking reported at I-610 exit ramp
New Orleans —A local man reported being carjacked for his luxury vehicle while idling at an exit ramp for Interstate 610.
Police say the victim reported the incident at 11:15 p.m. Wednesday.
The man said he was stopped at the exit ramp at St. Bernard Avenue, when an unknown armed man approached his 2003 Cadillac CTS and demanded he get out of the vehicle.
The victim complied and the suspect sped off, police said. The license plate for the vehicle is TBW291.
Man shot in leg on Thursday afternoon
New Orleans — Police are investigating a Thursday shooting that left one man with a leg wound.
The incident was reported shortly before 2:45 p.m. in the 2900 block of Danneel Street.
Police learned of the shooting after the victim showed up at a local hospital with a gunshot wound to the thigh.
Police have released no motive or suspects in the shooting.
Police still seek trio in carjacking case
New Orleans — Police are asking the public’s help in locating three men who carjacked a local resident as he was walking up to his front door.
The incident was reported shortly before 6 a.m. Sunday, according to police.
The victim said he had just returned to his home near Baudin Street and South Salcedo Street when three men approached him.
One man was on a bicycle, and the other two was on foot, police say.
The men were all armed and demanded the victim’s car keys.
Two of the men then fled in the car, while the third left on the bicycle.

French Quarter drug bust nets pills, guns
New Orleans — Police found prescription pills, heroin and guns in a French Quarter apartment Wednesday afternoon.
The stash was discovered by Eighth District officers serving a search warrant at the unidentified location, which police had been watching for some time.
They found a total of 143.5 pills, several hypodermic needles and two loaded guns. Brian Madison, 26, and Kelly Wood, 25, were arrested during the search.
Child porn suspect facing more charges
Gretna — A Marrero man already accused of trying to lure young girls to his home to take pornographic pictures has been accused of sexual battery involving a young boy.
Ory Brehm, 24, was rebooked with sexual battery, indecent behavior with a juvenile and possession of child pornography on Wednesday.
Brehm had been in custody since June after authorities say he tried to expose himself to young girls and bribe them to take pornographic pictures using nail polish.
According to an arrest report, a boy told detectives that Brehm used to babysit him and made him look at pornographic pictures.
He also showed the boy his genitals.
Brehm told the boy to call him “Elmo” and said the boy’s family would be hurt if he told anybody anyone about what was happening, according to the report.
Motorist crashes car into Mid-City home
New Orleans — A 24-year-old man is in custody after authorities say he slammed a car into a Mid-City home while fleeing police.
Carlos Renfore is accused of striking a home in the 2300 block of Conti Street on Wednesday afternoon after refusing to stop when police say they saw him run a stop light.
According to court records, Renfore also tossed a weapon from the vehicle and fought with police.
W. Jefferson student arrested in sex crime
Harvey — A 17-year-old student at West Jefferson High School was arrested Tuesday after authorities say he persuaded a younger classmate to give him oral sex in a bathroom.
Antwon Gibson was booked with misdemeanor carnal knowledge of a juvenile because he is more than two years older than the other student.
