The 37th annual B’nai B’rith Mardi Gras Mitzva Makers parade group took a taste of Carnival to Touro Infirmary patients who weren’t likely to experience it outside the hospital doors — those in long-term care and rehabilitation.

Masked visitors and musicians took part in the mitzva, or good deed, handing out beads and doubloons and supplying king cakes for a patient party. The New Orleans branch of B’nai B’rith, a nationwide Jewish service organization, was founded in 1873.
