Rouses Markets has closed its store on Veterans Memorial Boulevard near Transcontinental Drive in Metairie.
Chief Executive Donny Rouse said Monday that the company was unable to renew its lease with the shopping center and decided to close it on Jan. 24.
Rouses has five other stores in East Jefferson, including one in Kenner, one nearby at Power Boulevard at Kawanee Avenue and one on Veterans east of Causeway Boulevard.
Rouse said the chain plans to absorb the closed store's customer base at its nearby locations.
A pet store in the shopping center, 50 Fathoms, has moved to Trenton Street, according to a sign on the door.
