Police are investigating a crash that killed a bicyclist Monday night in St. Charles Parish, authorities said.

Trooper First Class Melissa Matey, a State Police spokeswoman, said a 1994 Nissan Pathfinder, driven by Lydia Goellner, 50, of Thibodeaux, was traveling west on U.S. 90 at Barton Avenue at about 8 p.m. Monday when the bicyclist exited crossed U.S. 90 and road into the path of the SUV. The bicyclist, who was not identified, was pronounced dead at the scene, Matey said.

Speed and alcohol were not considered to be factors in the crash, though toxicology results are pending with the bicyclist’s autopsy, Matey said.
