Attorney accused of theft of $25,000
Kenner police arrested a New Orleans lawyer Friday and accused him of stealing more than $25,000 from a construction company and forging a judge’s signature.
Gregory Discon, 49, was booked on counts of theft, forgery and false impersonation, according to the Kenner Police Department.
In September, Elevations Shoring hired the Duggins Law Firm in New Orleans to perform collection services on its behalf. Discon was assigned to work on the account.
Kenner police said Discon submitted invoices to Elevations Shoring between September and June in which he requested reimbursements for work he didn’t do, including filing complaints or motions in court. He asked that payments be made directly to him and not the law firm.
Discon also forged a judge’s signature on some of the papers, police said.
The lawyer was arrested Friday in Jefferson Parish on an outstanding warrant.
Kenner Police Chief Michael Glaser asked anyone with information about Discon to contact Kenner Police Detective Brad Ricke at (504) 712-2214.
