Knitters recently gathered at the National World War II Museum in New Orleans for the ninth annual Knit Your Bit event.

The group used traditional patterns from the WWII era to create scarves and other items that will be given to veterans.

More than 4 million visitors came to the National WWII Museum last year for year-round programs, exhibits and entertainment. Upcoming programs include a book club discussion of “The Key to Rebecca” by Ken Follet, from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 15, in the museum’s Stage Door Canteen at 945 Magazine St.
