A St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office deputy was suspended on Wednesday after he was arrested with illegal drugs in St. Charles Parish, officials said.
St. John Sheriff Mike Tregre said that 23-year-old Barry Conner II, a deputy in the corrections division, had been placed on indefinite suspension after his arrest early Wednesday morning.
Capt. Patrick Yoes of the St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office said that deputies there stopped Conner after spotting him with a passenger headlight out around 1:17 a.m.. They found 3.2 grams of marijuana and 0.1 grams of crack cocaine in his possession, according to Yoes, as well as a Glock handgun.
Conner, of LaPlace, was booked on counts of possession of marijuana, possession of crack cocaine, use of a firearm in the presence of a controlled dangerous substance, and vehicle required headlights.
Yoes said Conner was being held at the Nelson Coleman Correctional Center on a $25,000 bond on Wednesday. He has been with the Sheriff’s Office since August 2015, according to Tregre.
