New Orleans police said the victim, a 14-year-old boy, sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was taken to an area hospital, where he is currently being treated.

His condition was not immediately known.

The shooting happened in the 8900 block of Morrison Road, and the victim then went to the 9000 block of Bunker Hill, where the shooting was reported, NOPD spokesman Tyler Gamble said in a news release.

Based on preliminary information, the victim and another teenager were in a verbal argument that turned violent, Gamble said.

Anyone with more information is asked to call NOPD or Crimestoppers.

The shooting occurred on Morrison Road near Dartmoor Drive. Police initially reported the shooting happened on Bunker Hill Road.

New Orleans police are investigating a shooting in New Orleans East Thursday.

Initial reports indicate the victim is a 14-year-old boy, NOPD spokeswoman Dawne Massey said in an email around 11:50 a.m.

The shooting occurred in the 9000 block of Bunker Hill Road, Massey said.
