Woman sought in purse-snatching case

Jefferson Parish authorities are trying to locate a woman wanted in connection with two recent purse snatchings.

Investigators believe Ashley T. Rose, of Metairie, concealed the identity of her nephew, who was arrested in the case, during an interview with detectives.

The Sheriff’s Office said Rose also gave a ride to the nephew, Frederick Joseph, from Jefferson Parish to Raceland, where he avoided arrest for a time.

Joseph, 22, and Eric Robertson, 31, each have been booked with the purse snatchings, which happened in May.

The Sheriff’s Office said it has obtained warrants for Rose’s arrest on two counts of being an accessory after the fact to purse snatching.

Anyone with information on her whereabouts is asked to contact the Sheriff’s Office’s robbery section at (504) 364-5376.

Vehicles burglarized on Old Metairie streets

A number of vehicles were burglarized Sunday morning in Old Metairie, the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office said Tuesday.

The burglaries happened in the predawn hours in the 100, 200 and 300 blocks of Metairie Lawn Drive and the 100, 200 and 300 blocks of Labarre Road.

All of the burglarized vehicles had been left unlocked, the Sheriff’s Office said.

Investigators believe the burglars were using a black 2013 Honda Accord, Louisiana license plate WWZ 539, that had been stolen from the 2600 block of Vivian Street. This vehicle has not been recovered, but it was spotted by a camera on the West Bank on Sunday, the Sheriff’s Office said.

“One of the suspects can be seen armed with a handgun and can be seen actually pointing the weapon at the home and driveway being targeted,” Col. John Fortunato, a Sheriff’s Office spokesman, said of video showing the burglars prowling the Metairie neighborhood.

Anyone with information about the burglaries is asked to contact the Sheriff’s Office’s burglary and theft section at (504) 364-5300 or Crimestoppers at (504) 822-1111.

Arrest made in Slidell gas station robbery

Slidell police arrested 21-year-old Juan Scott Jr. in the Sunday morning robbery of a Shell gas station on Old Spanish Trail.

A clerk told police that a man dressed in black with a bandana over his face walked into the station and brandished a pistol, demanding cash from the register. He then fled.

About 11 p.m. Sunday, police responded to a report of a disturbance in the 3200 block of Effie Street. The victim said a man showed a gun and threatened to shoot him.

Slidell police located the suspect, who was identified as Scott, and recovered the pistol. The weapon and Scott fit the description of the armed robbery suspect, and Scott allegedly confessed during an interrogation.

He was booked late Monday on one count of armed robbery and one count of aggravated assault.
