Patrick Widhalm, executive director of the Louisiana School for Math, Science, and the Arts in Natchitoches since 2001, will take over July 1 as head of school at Benjamin Franklin High School in New Orleans.
Widhalm was appointed by the school’s governing board, Advocates for Academic Excellence in Education after a national search.
The Louisiana School for Math, Science, and the Arts is a residential high school that has been recognized as one of the top schools in Louisiana and in the nation. Prior appointments include the Conservatory of Music at Capital University in Columbus, Ohio, and founding dean of arts and academics at the South Carolina Governor’s School for Arts and Humanities in Greenville.
Widhalm holds a doctorate of musical arts in piano performance from the University of Missouri – Kansas City.
