Girl Power helps with self-esteem

Girl Power, a self-esteem and social skills group for girls ages 11-14, begins a new series of meetings Tuesdays starting April 9, lasting through May 14, at 4 p.m. at Jewish Family Service, 3330 W. Esplanade Ave., Suite 600, Metairie.

Girl Power activities increase participants’ self-confidence, teach them how to deal with stress and anxiety, encourage positive friendships and teach skills to handle peer pressure and bullying.

Bus brings free vaccines to children

The Greater New Orleans Immunization Network bus offers free shots to children who lack insurance coverage for vaccinations.

The network also maintains a computerized registry for easy recordkeeping.
