Joharri Walker, 20, was convicted Wednesday of second-degree murder in the 2014 shooting of a Marrero teenager.

Walker faces mandatory life in prison without parole, probation or suspended sentence for the killing of Stefan Johnson, who was shot in the back on July 8 near Luther and King drives

Johnson, a student at John Ehret High School, died later at the hospital.

Walker was convicted just before 7 p.m. Wednesday in the courtroom of Judge Donald Rowan in 24th Judicial District Court in Gretna.

He will be sentenced later this year.

A second person was arrested in connection with the shooting and charged with being an accessory but the charges were dropped.
