A 19-year-old St. Gabriel man wanted in connection with a May robbery and shooting in the Gardere neighborhood that left two Baton Rouge men dead may be hiding in St. John the Baptist Parish, authorities said Friday.

Plug Lanaute is wanted by the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office for two counts of first-degree murder and armed robbery. Lanaute is also wanted by the Baton Rouge Police Department for attempted first-degree murder and armed robbery in a separate investigation.

Lanaute is considered armed and dangerous, St. John Sheriff Mike Tregre said in an email.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crimestoppers at (225) 344-7867.

East Baton Rouge Parish sheriff’s deputies previously arrested two men — Charles Lanaute, 18, and Darrius Montel Miller, 21 — for their involvement in the Gardere incident.

The two men, along with Plug Lanaute, are accused of going to 32-year-old Orok Ironbar Jr’s apartment in May to sell marijuana, the sheriff’s office has said.

Charles Lanaute allegedly told detectives that he remained downstairs with the drugs while his cousin Plug Lanaute and Miller went upstairs to the apartment. Plug Lanaute and Miller are accused of shooting and robbing Ironbar and Russell Celestine, 31, inside the apartment, according to statements made to detectives.

When deputies arrived at Ironbar’s apartment, which sits on Gardere Lane between Ned and Christian Paul avenues, in the early morning hours of May 19, they found Ironbar dead and Celestine seriously injured. Celestine later died at a hospital.

Charles Lanaute and Miller, who both live in St. Gabriel, were booked with first-degree murder and armed robbery. Authorities have said Plug Lanaute will be booked on the same counts once apprehended.
