Police: Family friend sexually assaulted girl

An 11-year-old girl was sexually assaulted by a family friend Sunday morning in Gentilly, New Orleans police said.

The assault was reported about 8:30 a.m. in the 3700 block of Agriculture Street, according to a daily police log.

No other details were immediately available.

Man shot walking in New Orleans East

A man was shot late Sunday night while walking in New Orleans East, police said.

Two unknown men shot the 17-year-old victim about 11:40 p.m. near Curran Boulevard and Haney Drive, police said.

The victim’s injuries were not serious.

Man shot in buttocks by accident, police say

Doctors were treating a man Monday afternoon after he was accidentally shot in the buttocks with a pellet gun, New Orleans police said.

A friend of the victim accidentally shot him a little after 2 p.m. in the 7000 block of Manchester Street, police said.

No other details were immediately available.

N.O. police investigate three armed robberies

New Orleans police on Monday were investigating the following armed robberies reported in an overnight crime log:

  • 7:42 a.m. Sunday in the 2300 block of Baronne Street. An unknown man volunteered to give a 40-year-old woman a ride. Once she was in the car, the man pulled out a gun and demanded her money.
  • 1 p.m. Sunday at Iberville and Crozat streets. A 19-year-old man began to speak with two men and two women sitting on the curb when one of the men grabbed him by the neck, pulled out a gun and demanded his belongings. The victim gave the man his iPhone, cash and Chase debit card. The robber and the three other people fled the scene in a white Nissan Sentra.
  • 11:42 p.m. Sunday in the 2600 block of St. Andrew Street. A man walked up to two other men, ages 28 and 19, and demanded their belongings. The victims handed over their possessions, and the robber ran away.

JPSO seeks man, truck in Circle K robbery

Jefferson Parish authorities are trying to locate a man and truck in connection with the robbery of a Metairie convenience store Sunday evening.

The unknown man walked into the Circle K at 330 Veterans Memorial Blvd. about 6 p.m. and asked for change, the Sheriff’s Office said. When the clerk opened the cash register, the man grabbed the money from it.

He ran out of the store and hopped into a green 1995 Chevrolet S-10, with Louisiana license plate X993281, driven by another man.

License plate recognition cameras identified the truck, which has a spare tire in the bed, as being registered to Wesley Ruffino, 20, of St. Bernard Parish.

The truck also was identified as being a “felony vehicle” in connection with another robbery.

The Sheriff’s Office did not identify Ruffino as a suspect.

Burglar pistol-whips 68-year-old man

A 68-year-old Algiers man was pistol-whipped during a burglary Sunday evening, police said.

An unknown man kicked in the door of a home in the 3300 block of Garden Oaks Drive about 5:20 p.m. Once inside, he hit the victim with a gun and took his money before running away.
