NAMI PRESENTS ‘SHARING HOPE’: NAMI New Orleans, the local affiliate of the National Alliance on Mental Illness, is sponsoring a presentation and discussion as part of National Minority Mental Health Awareness Month about mental health issues in the African American community from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, July 31, at New Hope Baptist Church, 1807 LaSalle St., New Orleans.
The presentation, “Sharing Hope,” is led by an individual living with a mental illness and a family member of someone with a mental illness.
LSPCA ‘KITTY CLEARANCE’: More than 180 cats are available at the Louisiana SPCA. A Kitty Clearance sale will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday Aug. 1; 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday Aug. 2 and noon to 4 p.m. Sunday Aug. 3 at the Louisiana SPCA, 1700 Mardi Gras Blvd. in New Orleans. The adoption fee for cats 1 year of age and older will be free and kittens under 1 year of age will be reduced from $80 to $25.

ZULU BRICK CAMPAIGN ENDS JULY 31: The public is invited to purchase a brick paver that will be displayed on the sidewalk in front of the new Zulu Roy E. Glapion Jr. Building. It can be a way to remember family and friends, advertise a business or have a name as a part of history. Up to 18 characters per line with a three-line maximum is included on the brick.
The $150 personalized Zulu brick campaign will end on July 31, with a grand opening of the planned building for Aug. 29.
ROLLAND GOLDEN BOOK SIGNING: Rolland Golden will be discussing and signing his memoirs, “Rolland Golden: Life, Love, and Art in the French Quarter,” from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 1, at the Garden District Gallery, 1332 Washington Ave., New Orleans.
