New Orleans-based Smoothie King is continuing to expand, this time into Vietnam.
The privately-held company announced Tuesday that the latest expansion will happen through a partnership with Shinsegae Group, which will launch the brand’s presence in Vietnam and take ownership of 105 Smoothie King locations in Korea.
Smoothie King has more than 700 locations worldwide and plans to top 1,000 by the end of 2017.
Founded in 1973, Smoothie King produces a range of health retail products, including sports beverages, energy bars, vitamins and supplements.
This year, the company announced an expansion into the Middle East, beginning with locations in Dubai
“This deal is monumental for Smoothie King — and one that we thought long and hard about. I was the master franchisee in Korea and bought the brand in 2012, making growth a primary goal for the company,” Smoothie King CEO Wan Kim said in a statement.
