LSU Health New Orleans and Nashville-based Cumberland Emerging Technologies Inc. are working together to develop new commercial biomedical products.
LSU Health will present Cumberland with unique therapeutic discoveries for its consideration to develop, some of which could lead to the formation of new, locally-based biomedical companies, according to the agreement announced Thursday.
The potential development pipeline includes therapeutics for cardiovascular diseases, cancer and antifungals, as well as those emerging from drug re-purposing.
“LSU Health is excited to collaborate with Cumberland Emerging Technologies in order to further advance our innovative technologies,” said Patrick Reed, director of LSU Health’s Office of Technology Management. “We’re confident that CET will prove to be an excellent partner to bring our technologies to the market for public benefit.”
