The former Houston's Restaurant site on Veterans Memorial Boulevard will no longer sit empty.

Creole Cuisine Restaurant Concepts announced today that it will open a restaurant at the location. The company purchased the property earlier this year from the Hillstone Restaurant Group with no immediate plans for its use.

In May, Houston's announced that it would be closing its location in Metairie, leaving the restaurant on St. Charles Avenue as the only one in New Orleans. The decision did not sit well with many regulars. Houston's is a national chain.

Creole Cuisine will hire former Houston's general manager Robert Hardie, who will also be an owner with an interest in the new restaurant. Local businessman Todd Trosclaire will maintain the property investment with Creole Cuisine.

Creole Cuisine operates seven daiquiri bars and 10 restaurants in New Orleans, including Royal House, Broussard's and Kingfish, according to its website.
