A new initiative designed to connect high-growth startups with local health care stakeholders kicked off Thursday in an effort aimed at solving critical health issues such as diabetes.
Entrepreneurs can submit pitches for tackling three health care-related challenges designed by , Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Louisiana and Ochsner Health System as well as Tulane Health System and Lafayette General Foundation.
The deadline to submit a pitch is Jan. 15. Industry experts will review each pitch, which also will be analyzed on more than 100 metrics using the MedStartr technology, a crowd-funding platform geared toward the health care industry.
Led by the New Orleans Business Alliance, the effort will culminate at New Orleans Entrepreneur Week in March. Finalists will pitch their solutions in an effort to win a cash prize of up to $36,000, as well as in-kind prizes.
